The word âPushyaâ means nourishment or âto provide nourishmentâ, derived from the word âPushtiâ. Pushya is considered to be the most auspicious of the twenty-seven lunar mansions. This is the eighth nakshatra in the zodiac, spanning from 3°-20' to 16°-40' in Karaka. The ancient name of Pushya in the Rig Veda was Tishya, the Celestial Archer.
