Spanish politician, diplomat, lawyer and writer. Opposite the Town Councils Act of Regent and clear support to progressive and Baldomero Espartero in its confrontation with it, he took an active part in the fall of Maria Cristina. Espartero to ascend to power, he was appointed ambassador to Paris, where he tried to reconcile the Spanish official positions with frames that Maria Cristina realized in exile. After the fall of Espartero Elizabeth II and newly appointed older and Queen of Spain, was appointed Chairman of the Council of Ministers. He had to face false accusations of reactionary Luis González Bravo, which argued that it had sought the dissolution of the Parliament by using violence and intimidation on the Queen. The situation forced him to flee back to France on 29 November 1843. No return to Spain until 1847. In 1853 he became a member of the Real Academia de la Historia. Later he was ambassador in Paris again and return to the Peninsula, facing harsh criticism remained moderate and reactionary. In 1871 he was appointed member of the Royal Spanish Academy.
