German astrologer and author, who calculates Ceres and Chiron as full planets. Neptune and Uranus play a very important role for him. Certified member of DAV. He grew up in East Germany, wanted to study physics, which he was not allowed to do in the GDR. In 1959 he fled to Germany and initially planned to study music with a focus on the piano. Since his talent was not sufficient, he completed a teacher training course in German, History and Protestant Religion. A profound religious experience led him to the Catholic Church, and he followed this up with a theological study. Before he could go to the seminary, however, he met his future wife during his youth work in a parish. He decided against the priesthood and became a teacher of religion at a vocational school; later he added the subjects of economics and politics. After years of quiet professional and family life, he also had children, his wife separated from him in 1990, and he again embarked on a search for meaning, which led him to psychology and finally also to astrology. Freitag attaches great importance to the fact that astrology and Christianity get along well with each other, and therefore campaigns in Christian circles for an acceptance of astrology. As a psychological astrologer, he rejects any prognosis and condemns it as dubious. He does a psychological astrology, but with some special features: He works with Chiron and Ceres as a full-fledged planet; the former as ruler of the Virgin, assigning Ceres to the bull. He assumes flowing boundaries of signs and houses and sees in the border areas a mixture of the energies involved in each case. He also attaches great importance to Lilith and Priapus as "extreme distance" and "extreme closeness". What he calls "Gestalt astrology" represents a connection between astrology and transaction analysis. Transactional analysis should provide vivid psychological concepts with which people can reflect, analyse and change the reality they have experienced. Uranus and Neptune play a prominent role here: with them the neurotic roles of victim, rescuer, persecutor and chaot are to be recognized. The goal is the transformation into the healthy basic life attitudes of adaptation, help, determination and invention. These two planets thus represent a key to the holistic interpretation of the horoscope. In Heiligenhaus he runs a small astrology school in which he passes on his knowledge in small group lessons.
