American contestant on a TV game show called Big Brother, a show set in "real time." It is not scripted and is not intended for younger audiences as the language and situations have the spontaneity of real life. Ten young adults, strangers to each other, were selected to live for three months in a closed environment in order to observe their interaction, entering their Big Brother house on 7/04/2000. After voting one of their housemates off every week, the last remaining contestant wins $500,000 on 9/30/2000. Karen is a 43-year-old assistant to a small-town mayor. She is 5' 4", 151 lbs, a Columbus, Indiana wife and mother to four children whom she considers to be her greatest accomplishment. Swimming and basketball help Karen stay in shape, and she keeps her mind sharp with her favorite card games - spades and euchre - or a challenging, fun-filled evening of SKIP-BO. The best book she's ever read is John Howard Griffin's classic "Black Like Me." At the movies, though, she prefers a good laugh. The Jack Nicholson-Helen Hunt Oscar winner "As Good As It Gets" remains a personal favorite, and Karen admits a weakness for "anything with Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler."
