Salvadoran painter, founder of the first art gallery in El Salvador. She attended Valero Lecha, Spanish painter based in El Salvador, and got a scholarship to study in Europe, where she toured France, Germany, Holland and Belgium. She returned home in 1953 and 1954, disregarding the unfavorable environment for artistic creation, she founded her own pictorial study that would become the center for artists and intellectuals, as she would become a well-known promoter of art. This study became the first Salvadoran art gallery in 1958 under the name Forma Gallery, However, due to an earthquake in 1965 the building was destroyed so it had to move to Providence colony. In 1982, Diaz, along with several fans of his work, founded the "Foundation Julia Diaz 'body dedicated to the promotion of the arts. By March 1, 1983 the Shape Museum, the first of its kind in El Salvador, containing her private collection of paintings by local authors, the most important of the country was inaugurated. Again the painter project would be frustrated by another earthquake, this time with the 1986 earthquake, so that the collection was transferred to the Patronato Pro Patrimonio Cultural Monument near the Divine Savior of the World. Julia Diaz spent the last years of her life burdened by disease, nearly blind, confined to a wheelchair, and wrapped in property lawsuits. She died on 22 October 1999. Link to Wikipedia biography
