Australian mystic, a so called "Breatharian", who travels around the world lecturing about universal peace and tolerance. She claims to have taken very little food or drink from mid-1993, teaching people how to live from pranic energy instead of solid food. At age 17 she had her first mystical (Hamacher: kundalini) experience. She became a vegetarian and meditation practiser at least in the early seventies of the 20th century. She heard many voices in her head and could joke that she could be a schizophrenic. But she felt, she was not and tried to find ways for personal growth. In the eighties, she met during her meditations her spiritual guides named named Elijah and Samuel. In the early nineteens she was influenced by the American medium Eric Kliene, who published end 1992 "The ascension tapes". Many New Agers in Australia were inspired by it. In her book "Pranic nourishment. Nutrition for the New Millennium - Living on Light Series" she wrote: "I was later advised that the creation and release these tapes were orchestrated by 'Spirit", of Higher powers, to create a mass awakening of the Lightworkers, which was what occurred." Early 1993 she heard of a woman in Byron that had "ascended" by fasting. It seemed that fasting could awaken unknown potentialities in humans like being receptive to telepathic messages. Early 1993 she started with her own experiments with fasting. In June 1993, she also realised she could be a medium, and realised later that she could be spontaneously approached by the recently deceased in her immediate environment, who gave their name if she did not immediately recognise them. According to the messengers, their beloved ones were too emotional to receive their messages. In her books she described her "21 day-process" to get rid of Karmic debt. The first step (a) was not to eat and drink for seven days. The next seven days (b) one had to sip water and very diluted juices and on the last seven days (c) one had to rest to allow for "the integration of the energies of the Higher Self". Note, that all medics will tell you, that one ALWAYS need to drink water when fasting. But Jasmuheen and other "Breatharians" claimed she could do without water. She came into problems, when some of her students took her "21 day-process" literally: Four of them died. Australian television critically investigated her claims in "Living on Light" [now a dead link] at Google Videos – episode of 60 Minutes (Australian TV program). She agreed with a fasting experiment for seven days. On day three she complained about bad air and was moved to a more healthy location. On day four her health deteriorated and the experiment was stopped for health reasons. She herself is healthy and energetic, claiming she is needing almost no food nor sleep. Neither does she take vitamins or food supplements, but at times some yogi-tea with soy-milk. She says she actually needs nothing but in social contacts will join in now and then.
