French politician, physician and surgeon. Following the Bulgarian insurrection of April 1876, he left Paris on 31 August 1877 for Constantinople with medicines and medical instruments and arrived there on 8 September. On 12 September 1877, he left for Adrianople, where Moslem and Bulgarian refugees took refuge, according to whether their villages were occupied by the Russians or by the Turks. On 14 September 877, he set up an ambulance (emergency hospital) in Philippopoli where, under the aegis of the Red Crescent, he operated (extractions of bullets, splints, amputations, resections) and treated the wounded Turks, then departed to Plewna. On 7 October 1877, he left Philippopoli and arrived on the 12th at Sophia and on the 16th at Orkhanie where the whole country had been looted and the villages mostly abandoned by their inhabitants. He returned to Constantinople and embarked for France on 19 January 1878. Gabriel Maunoury sent reports to the French Committee of Relief to the wounded and the victims of the war of the Orient, testifying to the difficulty of caring for the wounded on the spot and of evacuating them. As a general councillor, he was the deputy of Eure-et-Loir from 1912 to 1924, sitting on the right. He died in Chartres on 5 January 1926. Link to Wikipedia biography (French)
